Serving the Oceanside region
Heat Pumps in French Creek
Parksville Heat Pumps installs and services heat pumps throughout French Creek, a waterfront community on Highway 19A about halfway between Parksville and Qualicum Beach, home to the region's largest working marina.
What do we put in near the harbour?
We install ducted and ductless heat pumps for waterfront homes and marina-district properties, from single-zone systems for a smaller cottage to full central systems for larger homes near the harbour.
Why does the harbour change the spec?
Exposure along the water and a working harbour mean salt air is a constant for any outdoor unit nearby — we install corrosion-resistant coils and condensers so your system holds up to the marine air.
What rebates can you claim?
Start with the provincial programs, which top out at $13,000 once household income and the outgoing fuel are taken into account, then add the regional district's own contribution for properties outside the towns — see our rebate guide for the full breakdown.
How much rebate money is actually on the table?
Alongside the provincial CleanBC amounts, this address falls inside an RDN electoral area, which opens up a further $2,000 from the Regional District of Nanaimo for coming off oil, propane or natural gas. Parksville and Qualicum Beach addresses are excluded from that one. The catch is the removal: the old system has to go, and a straight swap of broken equipment for the same fuel isn't eligible. There has to be a permitted electrical installation behind it as well, which is standard on every system we put in. The RDN takes applications between 1 January and 14 December.
What does salt air actually do to an outdoor unit?
Salt carried in on the wind settles on the outdoor coil and works into the aluminium fins and the copper behind them. Once corrosion starts it spreads along the fin edges, and as the fins degrade the coil moves less heat, so the system draws more power to do the same work and the compressor runs longer than it should. We specify factory coil coatings on exposed properties, which slows the process considerably but does not stop it. Rinsing the coil with fresh water a few times a year clears the salt before it has time to bite, and it is the single most useful thing you can do between services. Placement helps too: putting the unit out of direct spray and away from the prevailing wind buys years, which is why we walk the property before choosing the spot.
