Heat Pumps in Nanoose Bay
We install and service heat pumps throughout Nanoose Bay, an unincorporated community of about 6,500 residents roughly 16 km south of Parksville — from Fairwinds waterfront homes to inland Red Gap properties.
What can we put in out here?
We install and service both ducted and ductless heat pumps, from single-zone systems for a Red Gap cottage to full central systems for larger Fairwinds properties.
How hard is the salt air on a system?
The shoreline along the Strait of Georgia means salt air is a real factor for any home near the water — it corrodes an unprotected outdoor coil within a few winters. We install corrosion-resistant condensers and coatings on waterfront properties so your system holds up.
What rebates can you claim?
The provincial money is the larger half of it: CleanBC and BC Hydro between them reach $13,000, scaled by household income and by which fuel you are leaving behind. The regional district adds a local top-up on top of that — see our rebate guide for the full breakdown.
Can you claim a rebate Parksville homeowners can't?
Yes — an extra $2,000. Nanoose Bay sits in Electoral Area E, and the Regional District of Nanaimo pays that amount to electoral-area addresses switching off oil, propane or natural gas. It stacks on top of whatever CleanBC pays you. Two rules catch people out. You have to remove the old fossil system completely, not keep it on as a backup. And you can't claim it if you're simply replacing equipment that has already failed. You also need us on the CleanBC Better Homes contractor register, which we are. Applications run 1 January to 14 December, so mention it when we quote and we'll itemize your invoice with everything the application asks for.
How do we work out what size unit your house needs?
We do a room-by-room heat loss calculation, because two houses of the same footprint can lose heat at very different rates depending on insulation, window area and how exposed they sit. On the visit we measure each room, check insulation levels where we can see them, count and measure windows, and note which way the house faces. Oversizing is the more common mistake and it costs you comfort: a unit with too much capacity satisfies the thermostat quickly, shuts off, and short-cycles, which wears the compressor, leaves humidity behind and holds temperatures less steady than a correctly sized unit running longer and slower. Undersizing shows up on the coldest nights when the system can't keep up. We give you the calculation with the quote so you can see how the price was reached.
