Serving the Oceanside region

About Parksville Heat Pumps

We install, repair and maintain heat pumps across six communities in the Regional District of Nanaimo, and we pick the equipment and coil protection for the Island's damp, salt-air coast.

What we do

We install ducted and ductless heat pumps, repair failing systems, and service existing units with seasonal tune-ups and coil protection. Every project starts with a room-by-room heat-load calculation and a flat-rate written quote, and we review your CleanBC rebate eligibility before any work is booked.

Why does the coast change the spec?

Much of the region's older rural housing stock around Coombs and Errington was built without ductwork, and coastal properties call for equipment built for the marine environment. We specify corrosion-resistant, cold-climate equipment and size your system for the conditions of the Regional District of Nanaimo.

How we work

We complete every installation to BC electrical code, with the electrical permit filed through Technical Safety BC, and the electrical work is done by a licensed electrical contractor. We're a CleanBC Better Homes registered contractor, which every CleanBC and Better Homes rebate requires.

Do we come to you?

We serve Parksville, Qualicum Beach, Nanoose Bay, French Creek, Coombs and Errington, across the Regional District of Nanaimo.

How do we price a job?

Every quote starts with an in-home visit — we measure the space, check the electrical panel, and run a room-by-room heat-load calculation before we put a price in writing. That price is flat-rate and itemized, so you see what the equipment, labour and any permit costs come to before you sign. If a job turns out to need more than expected once the walls are open — an unexpected wiring issue, for instance — we call and price the extra work before doing it. You won't get a surprise invoice at the end.

What if something needs fixing later?

You get two separate warranties. The manufacturer's covers the equipment — compressor, boards, coils — and the clock starts the day we register your system with them, not the day we switch it on. We register it for you and hand you the date in writing. Our workmanship warranty is separate and shorter: it covers how we put the system in, while a defect in the equipment itself goes back to the manufacturer. You get both in writing with the model and serial numbers, so a service call years from now starts from the right information.

How do we choose equipment?

We only install equipment from the BC Qualified Heat Pump Product List, which sets minimum efficiency thresholds and confirms a model is eligible for CleanBC and BC Hydro rebates before we ever quote it. Within that list, we choose brands with strong parts availability on Vancouver Island, since a repair that needs an obscure part shipped from off-island turns a short fix into a long wait. We also favour manufacturers with a track record in coastal, high-humidity climates. If you have a brand preference from research of your own, tell us — we'll confirm it meets the same standards before including it in your quote.

What happens in the house during the install?

We bring an outdoor condenser, an indoor air handler or wall units, and a couple of days' worth of tools and materials through your home. On a ducted system most of our work sits at the air handler and your existing duct plenum — usually a basement, crawlspace or mechanical room — since the ductwork is already there. On a ductless system we make a small penetration through an exterior wall for each indoor head and run the refrigerant line set back to the outdoor unit. Outside, the condenser needs a level pad or a wall bracket, clear space around it for airflow, and a disconnect within sight of it. Running the electrical from your panel to that disconnect is the part most likely to mean opening a wall, and we'll tell you where before we start.
